Giving myself the boot...

Office etiquette... I find this a strange and slightly scary thing.
Yesterday, I sat at a breakfast meeting; interesting people, interesting topics but all I could focus on was the choice between a la carte or the buffet. It's inevitable that you'll get asked a question just as you pop a loaded fork into your mouth, or that you'll address the table with a blob of golden yolk on your chin; life's like that.
Of course, I could play it safe with a dry croissant and a slice of apple, but where's the fun in that?

And it's not just rogue egg yolk that's keeping me awake at night.

I'm looking for ankle boots... how hard can that be, but again corporate protocol raises its ugly head and I'm second guessing my first choice as being maybe a little too casual? I'll be wearing them with cream or chocolate skinny pants or tights and a little skirt.

What do you reckon?
Answers on a postard please.

  1. I think the 3rd pair is smart enough for the office.

  2. Yup, I favour number one, but not sure smart enough for an office, but then I'd go for comfort! ;-)

  3. mmm, you see, some of us don't get the corporate look. I wonder if I worked in a non library environment I could be true to my own dress sense...and what would happen if I didn't quite fit the dress code? I often think about this as I bike to work and see the lovely lawyer gals strutting it out in 'sitting down shoes' as they hoppity skip across the road from carpark to front door. The young ones look pretty bloody impressive.

I thing the bottom two are ok for office. What is your new job? And what a fantastic location.

  4. This is one of those questions where you'll get a different answer from everyone ... I love the first pair - they're what I'd buy - I think the second pair is maybe a smidgen better for office wear, and personally I'm not so keen on the pair with all the straps.

And I thank my lucky stars I no longer work where there's a dress code!

  5. I only EVER focus on food. It's all I think about. The next meal. The next snack. I zone out to dream up how to make chicken kiev and then forget what I am meant to be doing.
Love the first pair of boots but for the office, prob get away with 2.
    xx
